Curb Hunger-7 Delicious and Quick Snack Ideas

curb hunger

If you are anything like me, you do crave snacks throughout the day. There are just certain time periods that come where your body just seems to want to eat. Even while using this Slim Patch that has been helping me feel less hungry, I find when those times come like 3pm, my body still needs a pick up. So, I decided to write this post to share the 7 delicious snacks that I have been implementing in my diet and they really do curb the hunger for longer periods of time.

1. 10 multigrain wheat crackers like Multigrain Wheat Thins and 1 TBSP of peanut butter(193 calories and 2 grams of fiber). This is one thing I really had to watch. I realized that I had to start measuring the peanut butter out because as I soon noticed, what I was thinking was about a tbsp was actually turning out to be more like 2 or 3 which for peanut butter could add up to another 230 calories! Complex carbs and protein work together to keep your blood sugar stable and keep you feeling full longer.

2. Mix a piece of fruit with a cup of fat free milk for 160 calories and you will get a combination of a protein boost, extra calcium and Vitamin D. Once again, with the mix of protein and fiber you should not feel hungry and eat mindlessly.

3. Popcorn helps to increase your energy and mood. For 3 1/2 cups of 94% fat free popcorn it is only 100 calories. You can add 2 tablespoons of shredded Parmesan cheese at only another 50 calories and still have great taste for a low calorie snack.

4. Choose nuts instead of chips. These are rich in heart healthy fats. While they are 170 calories per ounce(24 almonds) which some people think may be a little high, the amount of protein, fiber and essential vitamins you gain is well worth it if kept to a healthy portion.

5. A great quick and easy snack to curb hunger is a package of regular instant oatmeal(only 110 calories). If you top it with a 1/4 tsp of cinnamon and a mini box of raisins(42 calories), you can have a healthy tasty snack for a little over 150 calories. Oatmeal helps lower cholesterol and reduces the risk of heart disease.

6. All natural snack bars are made with whole ingredients like dates, almonds, cashews, and cranberries along with vitamins and minerals. At approximately 200 calories a bar, this can help you keep from binging and indulge your sweet tooth at the same time.

7. Veggies are always a great snack to eat. There are so many different varieties of vegetables that you can peel and chop. If you would like an additional taste, you can dip them into 2 tbsp of low fat ranch dressing(70 calories), hummus(80 calories) or Salsa(which is only 10 calories).

One thing I have been trying to do to make sure that I can keep the preservatives or additives down is to find a recipe for any item I can make myself. There are many healthy and tasty recipes online for almost every sauce, dip or dish you can think of.
